REVEALED: How CBN Governor Emefiele Emptied Vaults To Sponsor PDP’s Failed Election
Documents obtained by the Cable.ng have revealed how Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) virtually emptied its vault to finance sponsor the failed presidential campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
This, it reports was made available by sources conversant with investigations into security spending in the last administration, where it was informed that the amount was released in dollar cash, contrary to all money laundering regulations.

According to The Cable.ng, security sources informed that in August 2014, Godwin Emefiele, the CBN governor, called a board meeting where he sought an approval of N60 billion to support the security services under a ‘special security intervention fund’ he was planning to come up with.
And as the chairman of the board, Emefiele told the members that the money was needed to equip the military to fight the insurgency in the northeast following a series of onslaughts by Boko Haram.
Although he was cautioned by some members of the board over such expenses, the CBN governor was said to have rejected the advice.

It was gathered also that this happened not quite long after Emefiele had secured approval from former president Goodluck Jonathan to disburse the funds.
This deal was also linked to former NSA, Sambo Dasuki, who was said to have twice requested for N60 billion in documents seen by The Cable.ng and he was only successful at the third attempt due to Jonathan’s intervention.
