According to him, the CSTO sees overt attempts by the West to shake up the situation in the Caucasus region and Iran. "A difficult situation is developing in the Caucasus region, where we also see overt attempts by Western countries to shake up the situation," Vasiliev said.
In addition, the permanent representative continued, Western countries are trying to interfere in the situation in countries neighboring Armenia, which also worries the CSTO, since if the situation in these countries destabilizes, this will become one of the security threats for all CSTO member states. "These attempts are visible and obvious, including in relation to neighboring Iran. Naturally, if the situation in the Caucasus destabilizes, this will be one of the real security threats for all CSTO member states," Vasiliev noted.
Armenia suspended its participation in the CSTO, believing that the Organization had not fulfilled its obligations to ensure the security of the Armenian state.
