Sentencing of Sithole killers postponed
The sentencing of the two men and a minor who robbed and fatally stabbed Emmanuel Sithole, has been postponed.
|||Johannesburg - The sentencing of the two men and a minor who robbed and fatally stabbed Mozambican national Emmanuel Sithole was on Friday postponed in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court.
Sithole, a street vendor, was stabbed to death in Alexandra, north of Johannesburg, in April. The attack in broad daylight occurred at a time when xenophobic violence was prevalent in many parts of the country.
The trio took cigarettes from Sithole's makeshift stall in the street and when he demanded payment they turned on him. In November, Mthinta Bhengu and Sifundi Mzimzela were found guilty of murder and theft, while the third accused, a 17-year-old minor, was only found guilty of theft.
However, their sentencing was postponed on Friday because pre-sentencing reports were not yet available. They will now be sentenced on 29 January 2016.
