Mahindra Thar 5-Door Leaked Ahead of Debut
The highly anticipated Mahindra Thar 5-door has been fully revealed ahead of its potential August debut, with leaked photos providing enthusiasts a detailed look at what’s to come. Positioned to compete against the 5-door versions of the Force Gurkha and Maruti Suzuki Jimny, the Thar 5-door promises to offer a blend of rugged off-road capability and enhanced practicality for everyday use.
Exterior and Features
The leaked images reveal a distinctive new grille design featuring six double-stacked slots, differentiating it from the current 3-door Thar’s seven-slot grille. While retaining the iconic circular headlamp shape, the 5-door model introduces LED projectors with C-shaped DRLs. A noticeable camera on the wing mirror confirms the inclusion of a 360-degree camera system. Interestingly, the rear door handle is mounted on the door frame, reminiscent of the Chevrolet Beat.
Previous spy shots have already hinted at the Thar 5-door’s interior, showcasing dual 10.25-inch displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment system. A panoramic sunroof and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are also expected on higher trims, mirroring features found in other Mahindra models like the XUV300 and XUV700.
Pricing
Production of the Thar 5-door has already commenced, and unofficial bookings are open, indicating an imminent launch. As per the reports, the model will be named the Thar Armada. Expected to be priced between Rs 15-20 lakh (ex-showroom), the Thar 5-door aims to broaden the Thar’s appeal by offering enhanced practicality without compromising its off-road capabilities. Mahindra’s decision to introduce the five-door variant marks a strategic expansion of its SUV lineup, reflecting the company’s commitment to offering a diverse range of vehicles to Indian consumers.
