Former GEJ Spokesman Rejects Metuh’s Announcement
Doyin Okupe, the former spokesperson of former president Goodluck Jonathan has rejected the new dates for congresses and national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) announced by Olisa Metuh.
The PDP spokesperson had made an announcement on Thursday, December 3 that a new timetable detailing the dates of the party’s national convention which he said had been approved by the party’s National Working Committee.

He said March 19, 2016 has been slated for the party’s national convention.
Metuh also said February 27, 2016 and March 5, 2016 were scheduled for the ward and local government areas congresses.
He also said the working committee approved March 12, 2016 for state congresses and March 16, 2016, for its zonal congresses.
Premium Times however reports that the former presidential spokesperson said the working committee had no right to fix the party’s convention dates.

“That power rests exclusively with the NEC of the party. The dates announced by the national Publicity secretary therefore, must have been in error and cannot stand,” he said.
He suggested that the working committee could “call for a meeting of the NEC to formally begin the process”
