With even its flagship food sufficiency programs suffering from alleged illogical budgetary scrimping, the Aquino administration has drawn more flak for having accomplished less than 1 percent growth in the agriculture sector in five years. Saying this administration lacks commitment in improving the agriculture sector, Valenzuela City Representative Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian and former Anakpawis Partylist Rep. Rafael Mariano scored President Aquino five years of modest movement in one of the critical growth areas in the country. Gatchalian, vice chairman of the House Committee on Housing and Urban Development, said the Philippine Statistics Authority report indicated that the services sector leapt to 7.3 percent from 5.6 percent leading the year-on-year 6.0 percent growth in the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) in the third quarter.
