Mets General Manager Sandy Alderson Diagnosed With Cancer
Just weeks after fainting at a news conference, New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson has been diagnosed with cancer, the team announced Friday.
Alderson is expected to undergo eight to 12 weeks of chemotherapy, and will thus miss the league’s 114th annual winter meetings that are scheduled to take place later this month. Mets COO Jeff Wilpon explained that Alderson will remain general manager throughout the battle, and that his doctors “are optimistic about a full recovery,” as his strain of the disease is considered "very treatable."
