UFC Fight Roundup: New match-ups set for London, Boston
The UFC has announced a pair of new match-ups for upcoming cards in 2016.
Marking the return of the Octagon to London on Feb. 27, UFC Fight Night 83 will feature English prospect Tom Breese versus Japanese veteran Keita Nakamura in a welterweight contest.
Winner of his couple bouts under the UFC banner, Breese (8-0) silenced the Irish crowd in October with a first-round knockout over Cathal Pendred in Dublin. Nakamura (31-6-2, 1 NC), who went winless in his first two runs in the Octagon, recently returned with a late submission victory over Jingliang Li.
The tickets for this event already sold out in 27 minutes earlier Friday despite not having a main event.
Weeks before in Boston, on Jan. 17, Mairbek Taisumov faces a new opponent at UFC Fight Night 81, as rising lightweight Beneil Dariush was forced out of the bout with an injury.
Taisumov (24-5), who won three in a row with knockouts over Alan Patrick, Tony Christodoulou and Marcin Bandel in just eight months, now faces Chris Wade (10-1), a former Ring of Combat 155-pound champion that defeated Cain Carrizosa, Lipeng Zhang and Christos Giagos after signing with the UFC.
