See How Bayelsa Looks Like Less Than 24 hours To Election (Photo)

At the moment, all appear set for the gubernatorial election scheduled to take place in Bayelsa on Saturday, December 3. While the whole state remain peaceful and calm, Bayelsans are are anxiously waiting to decide by votes who will rule the affairs of the state in the next four years.  

As the residents go about their usual business for the day, the whole state, most especially the state capital Yenogoa is now a point of attraction to press men, security personnel, government officials, INEC officials, politicians, among other players who are getting set to discharge their statutory obligations tomorrow.

As far as election of this nature is concerned, all eyes are on three major players due to the sensitivity of theie roles: the INEC (the umpire), the security circle and the media.

This explains why in Yenoga INEC secretariat located in: police headquarters and the office of the Nigerian Union of Journalists look like tourist centers as officials besieged the respective premises in preparation for tomorrow’s election.

While INEC officials are busy with the distribution of electoral materials to the various local governments, the security personnel are waiting in large numbers at the police headquarters to be discharged to their various duty posts across the state.  Journalists, as expected are also visiting  NUJ and INEC secretariats for accreditation and inquires.

The umpire INEC said  it has distributed sensitive materials for Tomorrow’s Bayelsa, Kogi Polls, Articles to the local government headquarters in the state.

Naij.com gathered that distribution of electoral material suffered a set back yesterday in Nembe local government as a result of a clash that ensued between members of the community.

In reaction, INEC commissioner said  the situation is under control as the commission has waded in.

”There was a challenge as regards logistics but the commission had ensured the materials are sent to different parts of the local government. They all agreed, came to a consensus and the materials were distributed to the RACs so that communities within Nembe can  have all electoral materials. So that was settled and we are all very happy. The materials have been distributed,” he said.

He enjoined members of the community and the media to complement the effort of the commission by contacting  the commission in case anything happens.

According to him, both sensitive and non sensitive materials; card readers, result sheets, ballot paper,ballot boxes had been distributed accordingly.

Meanwhile, security personnel have taken over strategic locations and offices in order to ensure no break down of order ahead of tomorrow’s election which political analysts in the state posited would be keenly contested.
