The commandant general of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abdullahi Muhammadu, has given concrete assurance to the residents in Bayelsa state that Saturday, December 5 gubernatorial poll will be peaceful.
Speaking at the corps’ national headquarters in Abuja, Gana said that 10,000 personnel have been deployed to provide security before, during and after the election.
Among those deployed are three deputy commandant generals, four assistant commandant generals, many commandants and officers.
Gana added that sniffer dogs will be on ground to ensure a hitch-free poll in the state.
He said armed personnel have been strategically positioned to protect all assets in the state include individual and national assets to prevent hoodlums from having a field day .

Also expressing optimism, Gana called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be the unbiased and ensure that Saturday’s election is free and fair.
He also, implored politicians who will be contesting not to make it a do or die affair as a winner and a loser must emerge after the election.

Gana also charged parents and guardians not to allow their wards to be used as thugs to accomplish any form of violence in the state.
Election in the state is scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 5, with the present governor, Sariake Dickson contesting under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against a former governor of the state Timipre Sylva of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and many others.
