Armenia's domestic trade turnover surges by 22.9% in H1 2024

YEREVAN, August 9. /ARKA/. In the first half of 2024, Armenia's domestic trade turnover reached 2,754.2 billion AMD, marking a 22.9% increase compared to the same period in 2023, the National Statistical Committee of Armenia reported on Friday./pp
For June 2024 alone, the turnover amounted to 515.0 billion AMD, reflecting a 16.2% rise from June 2023 and a 4.3% increase from May 2024./pp
Breaking down the figures, wholesale trade accounted for 1,808.3 billion AMD, representing 62.7% of the total turnover and showing a significant 32.5% growth compared to the previous year. Retail trade, comprising 30.4% of the total, reached 838.7 billion AMD, up by 10.5%. Meanwhile, vehicle trade saw a decline, with a turnover of 107.2 billion AMD, representing 3.9% of the total and an 8.7% drop from the previous year./pp
Within the retail trade sector, stores contributed the largest share, accounting for 83.2% of the total retail turnover, amounting to 698.1 billion AMD, which is a 13.1% increase. Consumer goods markets followed with 3.8% of the retail trade, totaling 31.5 billion AMD, up by 3.4%. Agricultural markets, with a 0.8% share, recorded a turnover of 7.0 billion AMD, down by 0.9%. Kiosks accounted for 1.3% of the retail trade, with a turnover of 10.8 billion AMD, marking a slight increase of 0.1%. Other trade outlets contributed 10.9% to the retail sector, with a turnover of 91.2 billion AMD, reflecting a 3.2% decline./p br
