Sanjay Dutt gets candid about playing villain in South Indian films, 'Maarne milta hai, rape scenes cut gaya lekin'
In Bollywood, Sanjay Dutt has played a romantic hero, a gangster, a funny character and much more. In South movies, Dutt has mostly played villains, in KGF 2 and Leo. The actor is all set to be a baddie on screen again with Telugu film Double iSmart. From Bollywood, Sanjay is one of the actors who is consistently working in South movies while also doing Hindi films. But what is it that makes him take on these villainous characters? The actor recently opened up about the same.

As reported by Times Now, during the Big Bull song launch from Double iSmart, Sanjay Dutt was asked why he loves doing negative characters. The Munna Bhai MBBS actor said that playing such characters is a challenge for him, especially in the South film industry. The actor believes that being in negative roles is a good space to be in.
Further, Sanjay stated that, as a villain, he gets to do a lot of things. Dutt said he gets to beat up someone to get beaten up. The actor also addressed how rape scenes are now cut from movies. However, he feels that, as a villain, he is glad he gets to do something as an actor in so many movies.
Double iSmart is helmed by Puri Jagannadh and also stars Ram Pothineni and Kavya Thapar. When asked about working with Puri, the Saajan star said that everyone is the director's fan. Dutt said that Puri created swag and coolness and expressed his gratitude for casting him in the film and for making him 'Big Bull' for the movie.
The Telugu action thriller is all set to hit theatres on August 15, 2024. The film will clash with three Hindi movies: Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor's Stree 2, Akshay Kumar and Taapsee Pannu's Khel Khel Mein, and John Abraham's Vedaa.

Up next, Sanjay Dutt will be seen in another South Indian (Kannada) film titled KD: The Devil. Directed by Prem, the film stars Dhruva Sarja, Reeshma Nanaiah, Shilpa Shetty, and V Ravichandran. Recently, Sanjay was supposed to go to the UK to start shooting for Son of Sardaar 2. However, the actor's visa was rejected. The Hindi film stars Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur.
