Adipurush director Om Raut gives THIS tag to Prabhas; reacts to film's box office collection
Adipurush was one of the most talked-about movies in 2023, before the release of Ranbir Kapoor's Animal. Directed by Om Raut, the film featured Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, and Kriti Sanon and was based on the Hindu mythological epic the Ramayana. With such a grand story at its core, expectations were high. However, the release of the first trailer raised concerns about the film's quality among many viewers. After its release, the reactions were mostly negative, with both audiences and critics largely disappointed.
The film's box office performance became a major topic of discussion, especially given its enormous budget. Adipurush was widely considered one of the biggest flops of 2023. However, director Om Raut has a different perspective. He believes that the film did well financially, but its reputation suffered due to a negative public perception. Raut explained that while the movie's numbers were good, it didn't live up to its full potential because of the way people perceived it.
On Amol Parchure's chat show on YouTube, Om Raut pointed out that the film earned 70 crore on its first day in India alone, and its total box office collection was over 400 crore. The director of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior believes the real issue wasn't a lack of revenue, but rather a problem with the public's perception of the movie. If perception had been better, the film could have earned more, he said. The Adipurush also discussed the media's impact on the film's reception, as he believes aggressive media coverage can sometimes overshadow other opinions.
Further in this entertainment news coverage - Raut praised actors like Prabhas and Salman Khan for their immense popularity. Due to their massive fan followings, he stated that these stars are "flop-proof" and their stardom remains unaffected by a few unsuccessful films.
