Maserati Unveils Second-Generation GranTurismo in India, Starting at Rs 2.72 Crore
Maserati has introduced the highly anticipated second-generation GranTurismo to the Indian market, with prices starting at Rs 2.72 crore for the Modena variant and Rs 2.90 crore for the top-tier Trofeo model, both ex-showroom. This sophisticated 2+2 two-door coupe arrives with substantial upgrades, continuing Maserati’s legacy of luxury and performance.
Refined Design and Aerodynamics
The new GranTurismo retains the low-slung, flowing lines characteristic of its predecessor, adopting an evolutionary design approach. The front fascia features the iconic Maserati Trident, flanked by a bumper with splitters and large air intakes, enhancing both aesthetics and functionality. Newly integrated vents behind the grille optimize aerodynamics, channeling excess air across the car’s body. The side profile preserves the distinctive triple vent design, a signature of Maserati’s design language, while the rear benefits from sleeker, triangular taillamps, contributing to a more modern and refined appearance.
Performance-Driven Engineering
Under the hood, the GranTurismo is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo petrol engine, strategically placed behind the front axle to optimize balance and handling. The Modena variant delivers 489 bhp and 600 Nm of torque, achieving a 0-100 kmph time of 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 302 kmph. The Trofeo variant elevates performance further with 550 bhp and 650 Nm of torque, reducing the 0-100 kmph sprint to 3.5 seconds and reaching a top speed of 320 kmph.
For those looking toward the future, the all-electric GranTurismo Folgore, set for a 2025 debut, features a tri-motor all-wheel-drive system producing an astounding 751 bhp and 1,350 Nm of torque. This EV accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in just 2.7 seconds and boasts a top speed of 325 kmph. Its 92.5 kWh battery offers an impressive range of up to 450 km on a full charge.
Modernized Interior with Advanced Technology
Maserati has thoroughly modernized the GranTurismo’s interior, replacing most traditional physical controls with advanced touchscreens. The dashboard now houses a 12.3-inch infotainment display alongside an 8.8-inch screen dedicated to climate control functions. The multifunction steering wheel retains some tactile buttons, striking a balance between physical and digital controls. A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster provides critical driving information, while the iconic analogue clock has been transformed into a customizable digital display, reflecting Maserati’s seamless blend of tradition and innovation.
Market Position and Competition
In the Indian luxury coupe segment, the Maserati GranTurismo ICE variants will compete against established rivals such as the Bentley Continental GT, Ferrari Roma, Aston Martin Vantage, and Porsche 911. When the all-electric GranTurismo Folgore launches next year, it will enter the competitive electric vehicle market, going head-to-head with the Audi RS e-tron GT and Porsche Taycan, both formidable contenders in the luxury electric segment.
The second-generation Maserati GranTurismo represents a significant step forward for the brand, offering cutting-edge technology and exhilarating performance while staying true to its iconic design heritage.
