Kendrick Lamar leads the 2016 Grammy Awards with 11 nominations

The nominations for the 2016 Grammy Awards are out and Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift, and the Weeknd are on top. Compton rapper Lamar snagged the most nominations by a long shot, with 11 nods in nine categories for his third album, To Pimp a Butterfly. Taylor Swift and the Weeknd got seven nods each, and Alabama Shakes followed with six.

To Pimp a Butterfly is joined by Swift's 1989, the Weeknd's Beauty Behind the Madness, Chris Stapleton's Traveller, and Alabama Shakes' Sound and Color in the race for Album of the Year. Best Song nominations went to Lamar's "Alright," Taylor Swift's "Blank Space," Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth's "See You Again," Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud," and Little Big Town's "Girl Crush." Best New Artist nominations went to Meghan Trainor, Tori Kelly, James Bay, Sam Hunt, and Courtney Barnett.
