2016 Budget: Buhari Meets With His Cabinet
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held today, December 7, at the Council Chambers of the Aso Rock presidential villa in Abuja.
The FEC meeting which began at about 3pm was presided over by President Muhammadu, The Nation reports.
This is the second meeting of the council. The first meeting held on November 13, shortly after the 36 ministers were inaugurated.
The meeting is expected to discuss the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) ahead of the final preparation of the 2016 budget.
At the weekend, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, the minister of budget and national planning, had told newsmen that the FEC would this week approve the MTEF, although he did not give a specific date.
According to sources in the presidency, FEC will now hold when there are pressing policy issues to discuss, unlike in the previous government when the cabinet met every Wednesday, The Guardian reports.
