Three officials of the Department of State Services (DSS) in the security detail of the Senate President Bukola Saraki were sacked on Monday, December 7, 2015, for their involvement in a N310 million robbery at a bureau de change in Abuja.
A reliable source, who confirmed the development to Naij.com, said the three sacked members of the security detail were allegedly part of a 10-man robbery gang.
The source, however, noted that as part of protocol, most of the senate president’s DSS detail were already due for change as they were previously attached to the past senate president, David Mark.
He also said the robbery included a total of five DSS and five military men including a major general.
In a statement, Tony Opuiyo of the DSS, said the service apprehended two of the five DSS officials involved in the robbery.

He said on Friday, November 20, the suspects shared N310 million which belonged to a bureau de change businessman in Abuja.
Initial findings showed that Abdulrasheed Ahmadu Maigari, a DSS official, colluded with four of his other colleagues: Solomon Inusa, Peter Okoye, Patrick Ishaya and George Mwatapwa Ibbi, to carry out the robbery.
Opuiyo said in the statement: “It is to be noted that security agencies now act in concert, thus the joint investigation undertaken with the Police, Army and the DSS. This action of the service is in line with the posture of the current Administration and DSS management focused on professionalism, transparency and accountability.”
He said the five army officers involved in the robbery were led by a certain Captain Ishaku Mshella.
“Meanwhile, the service has arrested Maigari and Ibbi; and Mshelia equally arrested by the Army authorities. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend those still at large.
“Those so far arrested have been suspended pending the completion of investigations.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Service wants to reiterate its commitment to the basic ideals and principles as established by its forebears and will not spare anyone found to be contravening the rules and regulations or the laws of the land,” the statement read in part.
