Nigerian Striker Leads Portland Timbers To MLS Title
Nigerian striker Fanendo Ali has won the 2015 MLS Cup in a historic season with Portland Timbers after the club defeated Columbus Crew.
Adi was not on the scoresheet when the Timbers defeated their opponents 2 – 1 on Sunday but made a telling contribution.
Portland Timbers became the first Pacific Northwest team to win the MLS Cup.
The striker almost scored in the 70th minute but Columbus Crew goalkeeper Steve Clark kept out his fantastic header and another effort in the 90th minute.

Diego Valeri opened the scoring in the first minute before Rodney Wallace scored the second goal to put Timbers 2-0 up in the seventh minute.
Sierra Leone’s Kai Kamara pulled one back in the in the 18th minute. In a related development, the duo of African superstars, Didier Drogba and Obafemi Martins failed to make the MLS team of the season and the final podium for goal of the season award.
