The Postal Service wants to start emailing you pictures of your mail

If you cherish spending large parts of your day sifting through snail mail and email, here's some good news: The United States Postal Service will now send you emails every day that contain pictures of the very same snail mail you'll receive hours later.

USPS began testing the email system in Virginia in 2014, according to Quartz. Now it's being expanded to the New York City metro area, and is expected to keep spreading in 2016. Signup is free, and you can see if you're eligible yet here.

The service is limited to sending the front side of letter-sized envelopes. If the photography aspect of the service skeeves you out, you should know the USPS has already been taking pictures of your mail as a way to comply with criminal investigations, as Fortune notes.
