Rapper 2 Chainz raised money for a disabled veteran facing eviction

Rapper 2 Chainz is paying a year's worth of rent for a disabled veteran and her family.

Dierdre Plater, a single mother from Palmetto, Georgia, was struggling to make ends meet. She had been out of work for over a year, and had recently undergone surgery.

Her 14-year-old son Isaiah, who had heart surgery at only 18 months old, had been trying to help make ends meet by creating a trash-collecting business.

"Me and my mom... we've gone to the projects," Isaiah said in the video. "We've been homeless before."

2 Chainz had been raising money for his non-profit, the Tru Foundation, in hopes of helping a family in need. He is selling "Dabbing Santa" sweaters on his website, and using a portion of the proceeds to fund his charity.

With the money raised, 2 Chainz was able to pay the Plater family's rent for a year, as well as furnish their empty apartment.

"I found a family who need it, not want it, but need it," said 2 Chainz. "[When] you pray, you never know what could happen to you."
