Father`s Day to be instituted in Armenia

ArmInfo.Fathers' Day will be celebrated in Armenia every year on June 17. The Committee on State and Legal Affairs of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia issued a positive conclusion at its session on October 18 on the amendments to the law "On Holidays and Memorable Dates" submitted in the second reading by a member of the National Assembly from the ruling "Civil Contract" faction.


According to the author of the legislative initiative, no proposals or comments on the bill were received by the second reading from either the members of parliament or the government. Explaining the choice of date, Batoyan noted that the experience of a number of countries was taken into account: Father's Day is currently celebrated on the third Sunday of June in the United States, Mexico, India and Japan.


The new holiday will be in effect along with Motherhood and Beauty Day, which is celebrated in Armenia on April 7. Fathers' Day, according to the author of the legislative initiative, will help to strengthen the importance of family in the minds of children, and will help fathers better understand their role in supporting the family and raising children.
