2016 Golden Globe nominations: Carol and The Big Short lead the way
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association unveiled the nominations for the 2016 Golden Globes on Thursday, December 10. You can read the full list of nominees below.
The awards will recognize both television and film, and are seen as an early litmus test for Oscar contenders. Leading the film nominees was the romantic drama Carol, which received five nominations for picture, director, score, and both of its lead actresses. Close behind was financial crisis docu-comedy The Big Short, which scored nominations for picture, screenplay, and two of its actors. The television categories were led by Transparent, Mr. Robot, Fargo, Outlander, Wolf Hall, and American Crime, all of which scored three nominations each.
Actors Angela Bassett, America Ferrera, Chloë Grace Moretz, and Dennis Quaid announced the nominees in 25 categories.
The 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards are scheduled for January 10, 2016. Comedian and actor Ricky Gervais will host the ceremony for the fourth time in its history; he previously hosted (somewhat contentiously) in 2009, 2010, and 2011.
