Armenia and Azerbaijan discuss sequence of sections for further border delimitation

YEREVAN, November 1. /ARКА/. Today, the tenth meeting of Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and his Azerbaijani counterpart Shahin Mustafayev took place on the border of the two countries. The deputy ministers chair the respective commissions on border delimitation./pp

The press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported that the parties exchanged notifications regarding the completion of their states' internal procedures necessary for the entry into force of the border Regulations from November 1, 2024./pp

The parties exchanged views on the sequence of sections/segments of the border line for further delimitation, and also agreed to determine the date and place of the next meeting./pp

Grigoryan and Mustafayev also separately discussed transport issues./pp

The Armenian-Azerbaijani agreement on border delimitation signed on August 30 includes regulations for the joint activities of the governmental commissions of Armenia and Azerbaijan participating in the delimitation process./pp

It states that the process will be based on the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration, in which the newly independent former Soviet republics recognized each other's Soviet-era borders, unless otherwise agreed./pp

The regulations and documents that will be adopted on their basis will complement the legal framework to ensure the full course of the delimitation process./pp

On September 26, the Constitutional Court of Armenia recognized the draft regulations (rules of procedure) as consistent with the country's basic law.-0-/p
