|||Cape Town - Two suspects have been arrested in Cape Town after they robbed someone at an ATM and then tried to run down a police officer in their vehicle as they fled the scene.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut said that the two suspects, aged 27 and 29, were arrested at about 7:25pm in St James Road, Sea Point, on Wednesday on charges of attempted murder, robbery and reckless and/or negligent driving.
“The two suspects were monitored by police close to an ATM in Beach Road Sea Point acting very suspiciously,” Traut said. “They were observed robbing a victim of a bank card and proceeded to flee the scene in a VW Polo, and in the process attempted to run over a police officer.
“They were eventually arrested and detained until their court appearance in Cape Town,” he said. “The involvement of the suspects in card skimming activities is being investigated.”
