Man guilty of killing, cutting up 4-yr-old

A KZN judge has found a 25-year-old man guilty of killing a four-year-old boy and dumping his dismembered body at a church.

Pongola - The Pongola Regional Court has found a man guilty of murdering a four-year-old boy, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Thursday.

Nhlanhla Magagula, 25, appeared in the Pongola Regional Court on Thursday on charges of kidnapping, attempted murder and murder.

Police spokesman Major Thulani Zwane said: “He was accused of kidnapping and killing Lungisani Ntuli, 4 on June 3, 2014 at Pongola area.”

He said the four-year-old boy’s body was “found in pieces at the church premises at Pongola”.

The court found Magagula guilty of two counts of kidnapping, attempted murder and murder.

KwaZulu-Natal Provincial commissioner Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni praised police for “collecting all necessary evidence that led to the conviction of the accused”.

“The members worked hard under extreme condition being criticised by the community of not finding the killer of the boy,” Ngobeni said. “We always appeal to the community to leave the police to do their work without being disturbed.”

The case was adjourned and would continue on Friday when it is expected that Magagula will be sentenced.
