Govt rules out lateral entry of professionals into Indian Administrative Service

The government has ruled out lateral entry of professionals into the Indian Administrative Service. It plans to address the shortage of IAS officers by increasing their annual intake from 55 in Civil Services Examination 1998 to 180 in the 2014 test.
