Maruti Suzuki E Vitara, Prepares for 2025 India Launch
Maruti Suzuki has taken a major step toward electrification with the reveal of the E Vitara, the production-ready version of its eVX concept. Unveiled in Milan, Italy, the E Vitara is the automaker’s debut electric SUV aimed at both Indian and global markets. This all-electric SUV is expected to officially launch in India in March 2025, following its national debut at the Bharat Mobility Show in New Delhi, scheduled for January.
Design Details and Dimensions
The E Vitara is heavily influenced by the initial eVX concept, featuring a design that emphasizes rugged styling rather than aerodynamic efficiency. Signature elements include LED daytime running lights with a distinctive tri-slash pattern and a robust stance thanks to dark cladding around the base of the vehicle. It measures 4,275mm in length, 1,800mm in width, and 1,635mm in height, with a generous 2,700mm wheelbase to accommodate the battery pack and enhance cabin space. Ground clearance is set at 180mm, suitable for diverse Indian roads.
Power and Range Options
The E Vitara will be available in two battery options: a 49kWh base version and a 61kWh variant, with the latter offering a range of over 500 kilometers. The smaller battery powers a single motor delivering 144 hp, while the larger one produces 174 hp, both front-wheel-driven. An advanced AWD version, branded as AllGrip-e, combines dual motors (front and rear) for a total output of 184 hp and a torque of 300Nm, enhancing capability on challenging terrain. The AWD version also includes a specialized Trail mode that distributes torque to optimize traction.
Interior and Features
Inside, the E Vitara is a departure from Maruti Suzuki’s current interiors, with a floating dual-screen setup that handles both infotainment and instrumentation. Additional interior highlights include a floating center console, physical climate controls, and an electronic parking brake. Standard tech is expected to include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, adaptive cruise control, and hill descent control, among other features. ADAS safety features are also anticipated, including lane-keeping assist and multiple airbags.
Pricing and Competition
In India, the E Vitara is expected to start at around ₹20 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base 49kWh model, with the AWD model potentially reaching up to ₹30 lakh. Maruti’s new entry will compete directly with the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, and Hyundai Creta EV in India’s expanding EV market. As the automaker’s first dedicated electric model, the E Vitara is a crucial part of Maruti’s strategy to establish itself in the EV space.
Final specifications and pricing details are expected to be disclosed closer to the launch, as Maruti Suzuki prepares to introduce its electric SUV to one of the most rapidly growing EV markets globally.
