Residents of Armenia assess the likely timeline for joining EU in a Gallup poll

YEREVAN, November 5. /ARKA/. Some 52% of respondents of a survey conducted by the Armenian office of Gallup International Association believe that Armenia will not join the European Union before Georgia and Moldova, while 35% believe in such a development./pp

Another 13% had difficulty answering this question. The findings of the survey were unveiled today by the head of the office, Aram Navasardyan./pp

Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said he would like to see Armenia joining the EU when asked what wish he would make if he could at the Copenhagen Democracy Summit in May 2024. “What year? This year!”nbsp;he said./pp

Nikol Pashinyan said that Armenia was ready to be “as close to the EU as the Union would allow”./pp

Armenia's National Assembly Chairman Alen Simonyan stated also that it would be “the right and most desired” option if Armenia became a candidate for EU membership./pp

According to Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, the people of Armenia have European aspirations. ‘Yerevan is considering the possibility of applying for EU membership and is striving to establish closer ties with the West,’ he said.-0-/p
