Development of 360-meter tunnel and road infrastructure concreting begins on Armenia's ‘’North-South’’ route

YEREVAN, 7 November. /ARKA/. Construction of 360-metre tunnel has started on the North-South road section from Agarak to Kajaran (phase 4)./pp
The implementation of the project is on schedule. A mission of the Eurasian Fund for Stabilisation and Development (EFSD) staff in Armenia visited the road section./pp
The EFSD has allocated a loan of 150 million US dollars for the construction of this section./pp
The project involves the construction of 32 kilometres of roadbed, two tunnels (360 and 520 metres) and 17 bridges, one of which is over 720 metres long./pp/pp
The total amount of the EFSR participation in the North-South Road Corridor project is USD 350 million. The motorway passes through 6 regions of the country, including Yerevan./pp
More than 1.5 million people use it annually. The implementation of the project will improve access of Armenian producers to markets and significantly increase the transit potential of the country./pp
The Eurasian Fund for Stabilisation and Development (EFSD) is a regional financial mechanism worth over $9 billion established in 2009 by Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federation and Tajikistan./pp
