Macron: Stability in South Caucasus is crucial for EU relations with  Central Asia  

ArmInfo. Stability in the South Caucasus is also crucial for the future of broader relations between the European Union and Central Asia. French Ambassador Olivier Decottignies reported on his Twitter microblog (X), that French President Emmanuel Macron made this statement at a joint press conference with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Paris.

"It is in our common interest to promote stability in the South Caucasus region and establish a fair and lasting peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. I want to thank you for your efforts, which France fully supports.

This peace is within reach. To achieve it, it is necessary to sign a peace treaty between the two countries, which is our goal. Here, I would like to reaffirm France's support for your initiatives aimed at facilitating discussions between Armenia and Azerbaijan," Macron said.  Additionally, he stressed that France provides comprehensive support to initiatives aimed at strengthening ties between the EU and Central Asia within the framework of EU strategies, the Transcaucasian Corridor project and the Crossroads of Peace initiative of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. "One should not be achieved without the other," the French leader concluded.

To recall that during the meeting, Macron and Tokayev signed a joint declaration, expressing full support for the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, among other things.  Earlier, Tokayev also expressed his readiness to offer the Almaty platform for negotiations between Yerevan and Baku regarding a peace treaty.
