Hillary Clinton's Gender Gap Problem w/Men
Much has been written about Donald Trump's gender gap problem with female voters. The gap has narrowed, but Trump still lags behind the other candidates with women. Still Trump's gender gap is tiny compared to Hillary's huge gender gap with men.
The latest CNN poll shows that 57% of men have an unfavorable opinion of Hillary and only 42% have an favorable view of her.
The gender gap persists even among registered Democrats where 28% of male Democrats view Hillary unfavorably compared to only 15% of female Democrats.
There's obviously a problem when over a quarter of the group that makes up your base hates you.
The left tends to spin gaps in minority groups as the fault of the candidate and gaps in majority groups as the fault of the voters. (Women are not a minority, but that's the logic being employed.) From a practical standpoint though, Hillary Clinton clearly has a male voter problem.
Hillary Clinton supporters may try to blame sexism, but Carly Fiorina, the other female candidate in the race, shows no such gender gap. Instead Fiorina has a higher favorable rating and lower unfavorable rating among men than women.
It's not a uniquely Republican phenomenon either. Elizabeth Warren isn't running, but when the polls were testing the waters early on she also proved more popular among men than women.
Hillary's gender gap is not about men disliking female politicians. Fiorina and Warren don't suffer from a gender gap with men. Hillary does. It's about her inability to connect with male voters.
