#2015InReview: See All Your Winners Of The #NaijEntertainmentAwards

To mark the end of 2015, Naij.com sought your votes to crown your favourite Nollywood actor, favourite Nollywood actress, best female music artist, best male music artist and the most controversial celebrity of 2015. After over a week of voting, here are your winners! 

Favourite Nollywood actor

With 36% of the votes, Joseph Benjamin is our favourite Nollywood actor of the year, winning against Blossom Chukwujekwu (27%), Femi Jacobs (14%), Deyemi Okanlawon (12%), and Tope Tedela (11%). Nollywood movie reviewer Efeturi Doghudje had this to say about nominating the handsome, charismatic actor/TV host: “Benjamin gave a great performance in Iyore. For 2015, asides his presenting gig on MTN Project Fame, he also featured alongside Ramsey in The Grave Dust as well as in Omoge Ofege. We hope he works equally hard in 2016.”

Favourite Nollywood actress

Stylish Nse Ikpe Etim is our favourite Nollywood actress with 54% of the votes. She beat out Rita Dominic (27%), Linda Ejiofor, who with 7% was neck and neck with Adesua Etomi, and comedian and actress Chioma ‘Chigul’ Omeruah, who shone in Genevieve Nnaji’s Road To Yesterday (5%). Efeturi Doghudje said about our winner: “Nse earned a lot of commendation for her role as Ajiri Shagaya in The Visit. The actress kept really busy in 2015, aligning strategically with productions that constantly place her name in the list of credits. Asides staring in The Visit, she featured alongside Bimbo Akintola in Heaven’s Hell as well as in Mo Abudu’s Fifty. In 2016, Nse will feature in three movies: AY’s A Trip to Jamaica, Ego Boyo’s A Hotel Called Memory and a South African production called Shushh.”

Best male music artist

This award went to Olamide with 54% of your votes. The Shakiti Bobo left his competitors in the dust: Davido (17%), Wizkid (14%), Kiss Daniel (11%) and Patoranking (7%). Music reviewer Udochukwu Ikwuagwu waxed lyrical about the music maverick, who famously released three singles in less than a week, pointing out: “Baddo doesn’t stop!” Ikwuagwu also called Olamide “biggest Nigerian artist of 2015, bar none!”

Best female music artist

Tiwa Savage narrowly won this category, getting 35% of your votes against her close competitor Yemi Alade’s 32%. The other nominees were Cynthia Morgan (20%), Simi (7%) and Seyi Shay (6%). Ikwuagu said of Tiwa Savage: “She had such a run in 2014, winning all that was up for grabs in the female categories, sitting as queen with the lucky charm that was Eminado. (Despite her pregnancy, and subsequent childbirth and maternity leave), she found time to hop on arguably the biggest remix this year (Woju) and contribute to the Mavins’ Jantamanta and the (Korede Bello’s) Romantic.”

Most controversial celebrity of 2015

Tonto Dikeh was the queen of controversy this year, winning 43% of the votes. She came up against the goddes of X Maheeda (27%), Stella Damasus (13%), Toyin Aimakhu (9%), and Toke Makinwa (7%).
