Resolving the railway concession: Deputy PM points to joint Armenia-Russia talks
ArmInfo. Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan believes thatArmenia and Russia must reach an agreement through discussions on the sale of the concession for Armenian railways.
In a conversation with journalists, when asked to comment on Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's proposal for Russia to consider selling the concession rights for the Republic's railways to a state friendly to Moscow and Yerevan, in particular Kazakhstan, the UAE, or Qatar, Grigoryan noted that this is a very complex issue, and it is impossible to answer it yet, but a solution must be found. At the same time, the Armenian Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged that there are currently no negotiations between Yerevan and Moscow regarding the sale of the concession.
Grigoryan also touched on Yerevan's request to restore two sections of the railway that connect Armenia to Turkey and Azerbaijan. "The Armenian side has indeed raised the issue of constructing these two sections, so that the railway is fully operational and ready for the process of unblocking communications. This is a very specific, formal process, and yes, such a proposal has been made by the Armenian side. There is nothing concrete yet regarding the other issues. But in any case, restoration is necessary," Grigoryan noted in response to a question about why Armenia asked Russia to restore the two sections of the railway if it intended to ask for a concession sale.
