A startup is building a bizarre-looking electric car you can share for $37 a week

Car ownership is dying.

The number of 19-year-olds who possess driver's licenses has declined 69% since 1983, according to a report by the University of Michigan. A similar decline has also been witnessed for other age groups as well. 

It's a trend that has led industry leaders like Lyft's president John Zimmer to state that car ownership will more or less disappear in the next 10 years.

A Netherlands-based start-up is looking to grab hold of this trend with a new ride-sharing service. Here are the details:

Amber Mobility is a Netherlands-based start-up looking to make electric vehicles that can be shared as part of a subscription.

We only have renderings of the car for now, but Amber Mobility will release a prototype of the car, dubbed Amber One, in 2017. Small scale production will begin in 2018, with the car hitting the roads in Eidenhoven before reaching other countries. It fits four adults comfortably.

The electric car is slated to have a range of roughly 250 miles. Amber Mobility is also claiming it will reach a top speed of 93 mph and boast an acceleration time of 0 to 60 mph in 7 seconds.

If Amber One can pull off those specs, the car will be pretty on par with the 2017 Chevy Bolt, barring the semi-autonomous features that come with the Bolt.
