Iloilo district hospitals ready amid Covid-19 surge
ILOILO CITY – The provincial government assured Monday, July 18, that district hospitals in Iloilo are ready to admit patients amid the surge in Covid-19 cases.
Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. said that a system is in place for Covid-19 cases, particularly the more transmissible Omicron BA.5 variant.
While many newer cases recently do not need hospital care, he instructed the 12 district hospitals and the Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan to be ready to cater to those in need from any of the province’s 42 towns and component city.
Defensor said that the Iloilo Provincial Health Office is on top of the other mechanisms in place, including the referral system for those who are in critical condition and needed to be admitted in tertiary hospitals, which are mostly located here.
As of July 17, the Department of Health-Region 6 recorded 709 active cases in Iloilo, including 46 new cases.
