Taxi rear-ends bakkie; 2 dead

Two people were killed when the bakkie in which they were travelling was rear-ended by a minibus taxi on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast.

Durban – Two people were killed when the bakkie in which they were travelling was rear-ended by a minibus taxi on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast on Monday.

KwaZulu-Natal Road Traffic spokeswoman Zinhle Mngomezulu said the bakkie was parked on the side of the N2 near Mtwalume when the taxi struck it.

She said that eight people from the taxi were reported to have been lightly injured and were taken to Port Shepstone Provincial Hospital and to GJ Crookes Hospital in Scottburgh.

One lane was closed while authorities cleared the accident scene.
