Truck ploughs into six vehicles in KZN

A 40-year old man was killed when a truck ploughed into six cars on the N2 near Pongola in northern KwaZulu-Natal.

Durban – A 40-year old man was killed when a truck ploughed into six cars on the N2 near Pongola in northern KwaZulu-Natal on Monday.

Robert McKenzie, spokesman for KwaZulu-Natal’s provincial Emergency Medical Service, said: “It is believed that the man who died was an occupant of one of the vehicles that was hit by the truck. It is alleged that while the truck was still approaching, he apparently left his vehicle in an attempt to get away. However, he was allegedly hit by a vehicle that had just been struck by the truck.”

McKenzie said that people from the other vehicles were assessed by paramedics, but did not require treatment.

The circumstances behind the accident were not clear but authorities were on scene to investigate.
