Bank of England governor Mark Carney says prospect of slowdown in China will not derail plans to raise interest rates in Britain

Speaking at a meeting of central bankers in the US, Carney said whether to start lifting interest rates from their historic low of 0.5 per cent would come into ‘sharper relief’ around the turn of the year.
