Artsakh authorities arrive in Yerevan for political consultations

YEREVAN, September 15. /ARKA/. President of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Araik Harutyunyan and members of Artsakh parliament have arrived in Yerevan today for political consultations with the Armenian authorities in connection with the current situation (Azerbaijani aggression against Armenia), Harutyunyan's press secretary Lusine Avanesyan said.

She said Artsakh authorities want to discuss with Armenian leadership the concerns of the people of Artsakh and the positions of its authorities.

Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan made several high-profile statements in parliament on September 14 including his readiness "to sign a document as a result of which many people will criticize, curse and declare us traitors and even remove us from power. We will still be happy if as a result of that document the Republic of Armenia gets a lasting peace and security on its 29,800 square-kilometer territory.”

Pashinyan's remarks made thousands of people rally in Yerevan late on Wednesday in front of the parliament and government buildings, accusing Pashinyan of planning unacceptable concessions to Azerbaijan and demanding his resignation.

Later, Pashinyan went live on Facebook saying that "no document has been signed and is not preparing to be signed.'

Pashinyan also claimed that “external unfriendly forces” are trying to destabilize Armenia. He did not name them.

In a prompt statement Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS) claimed that Pashinyan’s comments were “distorted” by media and urged Armenians not to “succumb to manipulative statements.” -0-
