Hardwood floors may add value to a home, but they can be hard on feet. A good pair of slippers goes a long way in keeping toes toasty and heels happy when shuffling around hard floors, whether it’s a winter cabin or a city studio. Regardless of the type of flooring you have, a solid pair of slippers is still a must-have for anyone whose feet get cold.
L.L.Bean, purveyor of all things cozy, makes the aptly named Wicked Good Slip-Ons. Zappos is offering these top-rated slippers for just $42, a $37 discount off the original $79 price. They’re available in brown and four sizes between 8 and 11, with no half sizes. L.L.Bean recommends that half sizes order up.

The lining is made from genuine lamb shearling, which is both warmer and more breathable than synthetic alternatives like sherpa, which is typically made from polyester fleece. Although the Zappos listing calls the uppers manmade, L.L.Bean’s product listing describes these as sheepskin, and they have a soft suede finish. The slip-ons have a heeled back, so they don’t slip in as quickly as mule-style slippers, but the pull-tab makes it easier to pull them on.
The slippers also have an unusual, loafer-inspired silhouette with a heel. That gives these slip-ons a surprisingly dressy appearance, and the synthetic outsole makes them better suited to taking the dog for a walk than other slippers. But the coziness of the genuine shearling makes them well-suited to exclusive in-the-house wearing.
One shopper called them “wonderfully warm,” saying that their giftee “hasn't taken these off since he received them.” Shoppers appreciated that they were warm without being too warm, with one writing, “The shearling keeps my feet very warm, but they breathe.” Another wrote, “it keeps my feet super comfortable and warm, without overheating them.”
The comfort was a selling point, with one shopper writing that wearing them was “like walking in a cloud. A really warm cloud.”
L.L.Bean’s genuine shearling Wicked Good slippers are a warm but breathable option, and they’re available for a wicked good price, too. Act fast to get them for just over $40.
