Glen Powell Hilariously Hijacks ‘Today Show’ Weather Report
Glen Powell hilariously hijacked The Today Show on Wednesday morning, offering a skillful weather report to promote his new action-disaster movie, Twisters.
Before the Texas native put his meteorology skills to the test, hosts Hoda Kotb and Dylan Dreyer had to summon him away from signing autographs and taking fan selfies.
“I know you became a pilot for Top Gun, but did you become a meteorologist for Twisters?” Dreyer asked. “We’ll see,” Powell laughed. “You’ll put my knowledge to the test, I guess.”
After Powell noted some slight raindrops in Manhattan, Dreyer pleaded, “Please tell me there are no twisters coming right now.”
“If there are I know what to do, guys,” Powell assured the crowd. “I did a whole movie about this.”
After examining the prompter, Powell deduced that “nothing dramatic” was happening in Arkansas. “But it seems like we’re going to get some hot weather here in New York,” he asserted. “Cold front is, uh, cold front is coming downwards,” Powell said as he worked to understand the readout.

The weather segment was just one of several Powell dominated this morning on Today. Before he put on his meteorologist hat, Powell found his parents, Cyndy Powell and Glen Powell Sr., holding signs in the crowd.
“I changed Glen’s diapers,” Cyndy’s sign read, while Glen Sr. went a more authentic route. “Glen Powell is our force of nature,” his was signed.
"Yeah, I recognize both of these jokers," the Anyone But You star told Today’s hosts. "You know, they always figure out where I am,” Powell joked. “I don't know how they do it, but they show up.”
Powell has been all over the place doing press for Twisters, which marks his first leading role in a proper Hollywood blockbuster. His star has been incrementally on the rise of late, after Anyone But You became a surprise box office smash and his Netflix caper comedy, Hit Man, became one of the most-viewed movies on the platform.
Powell’s Top Gun: Maverick co-star, Tom Cruise, seemingly inaugurated Powell into the Hollywood A-listers club when he turned up to Twisters’ London premiere. Powell’s co-star, Anthony Ramos, told People that Cruise later gave his seal of approval to the movie.
“Tom just kept hitting me the whole entire movie," Ramos said. "After the third time I turned back around, like, 'Yo, Tom Cruise is bugging out right now!' He keeps hitting me…because he's excited about different moments. He’s just laughing out loud the whole entire film. He wasn't afraid to express himself."
Twisters hits cinemas on Friday. You can check out the trailer below.
