‘One step closer to becoming a three-time champion’: Prograis talks upcoming fight with Catterall
Regis Prograis believes he’s primed to make another run at a major world title.
Ahead of the October 26 fight between Jack Catterall and Regis Prograis, Matchroom Boxing releases some behind the scenes footage of both fighters in camp as they prepare for battle. Prograis, for one, says he’s highly motivated to become a world champion once again and that begins with a win Catterall.
“It’s one step closer to becoming a three-time champion,” Prograis says. “You know, that’s something I really, really want. It’s something that, for me, I have Muhammad Ali [tatted on my arm], that’s something he did. He became a three-time champion and that’s something that I really want.
“I know Jack wants to be a world champion also, you know, but for me, I did it twice already and I’m going to do it again.”
Then when asked about those who have written him off after his loss to Devin Haney, Prograis responded:
“I don’t care. It’s only opinions. You definitely never want to make excuses for a fight but I feel like the thing I didn’t do is just not being myself. That’s the main thing, just not being me, not fighting like who I am, and people tell me that all the time, ‘be you, be you, be you.’
“Being my got me out of the mud from where I come from. Then being me got me to become a world champion. Being me got me to become a two-time world champion.”
