Reports: Pete Alonso, Orioles finalizing 5-year, $155M deal

Five-time All-Star first baseman Pete Alonso and the Baltimore Orioles are finalizing a five-year, $155 million contract, multiple media outlets reported on Wednesday.

Per Spotrac, Alonso will become the second-highest-paid first baseman per yearly average ($31 million) behind only Toronto Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. ($35.7 million).

Funeral services are set for Saturday in Carencro, La., for Tanasha T. Faulk, the daughter of former Super Bowl-winning running back Kevin Faulk.

She passed away last Saturday at 30. She leaves behind three daughters.

No cause of death has been released, but foul play is not suspected, according to reports.

CF Montreal acquired defender Dagur Dan Thorhallsson from Orlando City on Wednesday, both clubs announced.

In exchange for the 25-year-old Icelandic international, Orlando receives $500,000 in general allocation money.

Dallas Mavericks center Dereck Lively II will undergo season-ending surgery on his right foot, the team announced Wednesday.

Per the Mavericks, Lively is expected to make a full recovery and be available for the start of training camp for the 2026-27 season.

The Chicago Fire signed forward Jason Shokalook through the 2026 season Wednesday with options for 2027-28.

The 23-year-old claimed the MLS NEXT Pro league's Golden Boot in 2025 with 20 goals in 22 matches for Chicago Fire II.
