Oops, oh no!!! I left the bike computer at home. Well I wondered what I might say that would be different about this race than the 1st week and as I unloaded my bike from the Honda Element, I realized that the MSW computer that I so much enjoy, was still on the charger at home. However, I still had a blast racing against the clock!! much better than no racing. The backdrop for this race series is the Great Glen Outdoor Trails Cross Country Center.

We recognize that COVID-19 is a serious problem but Bath Cycle and Ski will remain available to serve the community. Although the doors will be closed we will be fully staffed during our regular hours and we are ready to help you.
Racing is finicky in that it takes so many pieces to all come together, including but not limited to; having the right equipment, paying for and getting to the race, preparing your body and mind, and in some cases finding someone to watch your kid(s).
Conditions for the 2020 Carrabassett Fat Bike Race were excellent. Smooth, firm, groomed snow and temperatures around 20 degrees were all that a racer could hope for.
Like a flash, it’s here. Target number two for the year is Iceman Cometh in Northern Michigan with 5000 of my closest friends.

A new venue for the Thanksgiving namesake. The Balearic Community Center at Estancia Park in Costa Mesa. Not only is this a great park, an historic adobe structure from our “Mission Days” is open to the public. Back to racing, lots of grass, barriers, sand and an upper and lower sections with true technical ascents and descents between. I however, did not spend enough time on these in warm up. The results were embarrassing, just never rode comfortably. Fought all the elements.
A return to Martha McLean Anza Narrows Park, I’ve recited the history, in past reports, but today’s story is the dry blustery winds and 90 degree heat. Upon set up and warm up, I noticed the slow and anguished look of racers, then my turn. Thankfully I flatted in the first lap. A return to my car for the single speed to complete a number of laps before the bell. No one noticed my bike swap in the parking lot, so I called it a day. The course can be fun but not today.
