Kerala State Film Awards 2025: Mammootty WINS best actor for...; best film goes to...; check complete winners list

The 55th Kerala State Film Awards were announced on November 3. Veteran actor Mammootty won the Best Actor award for his film Brahmayugam, while the Best Film of 2024 was awarded to the superhit film Manjummel Boys. These awards were announced by Kerala's Minister of Fisheries, Culture, and Youth Affairs, Saji Cherian, at a press conference in Thrissur. Both films Brahmayugam and Manjummel Boys made a mark this year, winning awards in multiple categories.

This year's jury was chaired by veteran actor Prakash Raj. The seven-member jury, led by him, selected the best films from 128 films produced in 2024. Of these, 26 were selected for the final round. Female performers also featured prominently in the awards. Shamala Hamza won the Best Actress award for her film Feminichi Fathima. Meanwhile, Chidambaram S. Poduval, director of Manjummel Boys, was declared Best Director.

Soubin Shahir (Manjummel Boys) and Siddharth Bharathan (Bramayugam) shared the Best Supporting Actor award, while Lijomol Jose won Best Supporting Actress for Nadanna Sambhavam. Tovino Thomas (ARM) and Asif Ali (Kishkindha Kaandam) received the Special Jury Award (Male), while Jyothiramayi (Bougainvillea) and Darshan Rajendran (Paradise) received the Special Jury Award (Female). "Feminichi Fathima" was awarded Best Second Film, and its director, Faasil Mohammed, was awarded Best Debut Director.

Other major winners included Premalu for Best Popular Film, Prasanna Vithanage for Paradise for Best Story, and Sushin Shyam for Bougainvillea for Best Music Director. In the technical categories, Manjummel Boys won several awards for cinematography, sound design, and production design. Brahmayugam was honored for its background score. These awards demonstrate that Kerala cinema continues to reach new heights. The winners are congratulated for their outstanding work.
