Chinmayi Sripaada HITS back at troll for mocking her sexual abuse experience: 'Getting molested was...'
Singer Chinmayi Sripaada strongly responded to an X user who mocked her by bringing up her past sexual harassment allegations against lyricist Vairamuthu. The comment came after she reacted to a tweet about her husband, actor Rahul Ravindran, who said that wearing a mangalsutra should be a woman's choice since men don't have any visible symbol to show they are married. Chinmayi highlighted the anger and abuse her husband was receiving online and said she worries for women who face such hostility every day.
Chinmayi Hits Back at Troll Over Sexual Abuse Comment
Yes. Because getting groped and molested is MY fault.
Why do men like you have to bring up my sexual harassment episode and my molester to prove some non-point?
Just please vanish into thin air in Delhi so that I dont have to breathe it. https://t.co/18x0gNKTu2

In the middle of the discussion, one user attacked her by saying, "You couldn't save yourself when Vairamuthu allegedly groped you, but here you are worried for other women." Chinmayi immediately called out the insensitive remark. She replied, "Yes, because getting groped and molested is apparently MY fault. Why do men like you bring up my harassment to make a meaningless point? Just disappear so I don't have to deal with you."
I asked you
Why did you have to bring up my sexual abuse. I have no answer and India anyway gets a travel advisory for women from every country.
You are a rape apologist and the reason why India is a rape capital is because of people like you.

The troll then questioned why Chinmayi often talks about Hindu culture when commenting on rape cases and why she calls India the "rape capital." She responded by asking again why he had to bring up her abuse and pointed out that many countries issue travel advisories for women visiting India. She said, "You are a rape apologist, and people like you are the reason India gets labelled a rape capital."
Chinmayi had first spoken out in 2018 during the MeToo movement, accusing Vairamuthu of sexually harassing her at his home.
