Dharmendra Prayer Meet: Deol family STOPS media from entering event premises after...

Dharmendra's prayer meet, which was titled Celebration of Life at Taj Lands End, was held in Mumbai. Held by the Deol family, the meet was attended by some big names from the Bollywood industry, such as Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, Rekha, Anil Kapoor, and Madhuri Dixit. The entire event was covered by the media and paparazzi extensively. However, only the entry and the exit of these meets were covered. The only visuals that were captured from the meet were from the cars of celebrities, where the media portals were able to cover only a few people.

Media was not allowed at Dharmendra's prayer meet

The reason behind this lay in the Deol family's displeasure with the media. Among some of the celebrities who were covered were Ameesha Patel, Shabana Azmi, Abhay Deol, and Karan Johar. However, the meet itself was not made public, as media was not allowed inside the hotel compound. Normally, during events like celebrities' prayer meets, photographers and videographers are given a spot from where they can shoot the attendees. In prayer meets of Pamela Chopra, Veerapa Shetty, and even the recent one of Pankaj Dheer, the media representatives were allowed to shoot the attendees who were walking towards the meet, and even paparazzi tried to not breach the privacy of the grieving family.

Why was media banned during the event?

The reason behind not allowing media or paps to cover the attendees of the prayer meet was the discontent the Deol family held with the same. After Sunny Deol's outburst on the paparazzi, the entire family had decided to not entertain media in general. More details about the same will be revealed during the press conference of Sunny Deol's upcoming movie, Border 2.

Has this happened before?

This is not the first time the media was not allowed in prayer meetings. A similar incident also happened during the event held in remembrance of Anil and Boney Kapoor's mother, Nirmal Kapoor. There, the media stood on the roadside in order to capture the celebrities who were attending.
