DPCC prohibits idol immersion in Yamuna, water bodies ahead of festivals

The DPCC has prohibited the immersion of idols in the Yamuna and other water bodies and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on violators, ahead of the Ganesh Chaturthi and Durga Pooja celebrations. In an order issued by the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) on Wednesday, local civil bodies have been tasked with creating temporary immersion sites or artificial ponds near residential areas. Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das on Thursday said he expects new external members of the monetary policy committee to be appointed in time. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the annual Fibac event here, Das said the meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) -- scheduled to take place from October 7 -- can only take place when the members are in place. Max Ventures Investment Holdings, a promoter entity of Max Financial Services, on Thursday divested a 3.18 per cent stake in the company for Rs 1,218 crore through an open market transaction. Analjit Singh-promoted Max Financial Services Ltd (MFSL), a part of the Max Group, is the holding company for Max Life Insurance. Delhi breathes clean air for 128 days in first half of 2024: Report

The national capital breathed clean air for 128 days of the first half of 2024, according to a Delhi government report. The report by the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) said that the "Good days' (good/satisfactory/moderate days together) during the January-July, 2024, period was 128. The number of 'good days' from August 1 to August 20 was 20, it said. The number of 'good days' referring to air quality, increased from 159 in 2018 to 206 in' 2023, it said. SC directs Sahara to deposit Rs 1,000 cr, allows JV to develop Mumbai land

The Supreme Court on Thursday directed Sahara Group to deposit Rs 1,000 crore in a separate escrow account within 15 days and allowed it to enter into a joint venture for developing its land at Versova in Mumbai to realise Rs 10,000 crore.
