Public Debates on Quality in Canada’s Built Environment to take place throughout November

An online event series featuring thematic debates on issues related to quality in Canada’s built environments will be taking place throughout November.

The series is being organized by the SSHRC Research Partnership on Quality in Canada’s Built Environment: Roadmaps to Equity, Social Value and Sustainability.

Open to everyone and free of charge, the six events will take place between November 3 and 21, and will feature six one-hour sessions with three teams presenting to an invited expert at each session.

The themes include Redefining quality through a partnership approach (Nov. 3), Advancing spatial justice (Nov. 7), Strengthening integrated resilience (Nov. 11), Accelerating inclusive design (Nov. 13), Transforming processes and policies (Nov. 19), and Promoting healthy cities and society (Nov. 21).

The cross-sector teams at each session are involved in multi-year research projects centred on proposed actions to address these themes. At each of the November events, three of these teams will make a short pitch designed to convince a panel of Canadian and international experts of their proposal’s urgency, terms and conditions, and intended impact.

Following each pitch, the experts will initiate short discussion periods. At the end of the hour, participants will be invited to vote online for the best proposal, and questions will be welcomed.

Attendees do not need to be affiliated with the research projects to participate in this event.

The sessions are free to attend, but registration is required to receive a ZOOM link.
