David Warner concluded a chase of 130 with a fast fifty-seven, leading Australia, who completed a clean sweep over Pakistan, in a comfortable chase.
In the first over, Usman Khawaja was held back by Sajid Khan, which dealt a blow to Australia’s pursuit. However, Warner and Marnus Labuschagne’s brilliant century-long partnership for the second wicket swiftly dashed Pakistan’s high aspirations.
Warner typically secured the lead, cutting, reverse-sweeping, and flicking powerful boundaries to put Pakistan under immediate strain after their early breakthrough. As it turned out, Labuschagne was the perfect foil—steady and ready to loft the spinners when necessary.
After that, the two made sure there weren’t too many bumps in the chase. After walking to a guard of honor from Shan Masood and company, Warner went on to record his 63rd fifty-plus score in Test cricket, making his final match even more memorable.
Together, they mentioned their eighth century-plus combination and ensured that Australia’s bowling prowess was not in vain. Australia had to praise the bowlers once more for setting up the achievable target prior to the batting feat.
Overnight, Pakistan was reduced to 67/7 by Josh Hazlewood’s outstanding over; but, Mohammad Rizwan and Aamer Jamal offered some resistance at the start of the fourth day, until the former was out after being caught at leg slip off Nathan Lyon, with Warner making a superb grab. The remainder gave way, with Pat Cummins stopping Jamal and Lyon finishing out Hasan Ali as the resistance broke.
Warner and Labuschagne carried Australia through nearly over the line before the former was trapped LBW with 11 to win. Nevertheless, it allowed for a perfect farewell as Australia finished the series with a comprehensive margin of 3-0.
